About the role

As a Senior Front End Engineer on the BigSpring Core team, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining our platform's user-facing experiences. We are seeking a passionate engineer with a strong focus on UI/UX to build intuitive and impactful user experiences for critical internal tools, with visibility up to the CEO level. This is a unique opportunity to leverage the latest web technologies - including Next.js, React.js, JavaScript, CSS, TypeScript, AWS, and GraphQL - while also collaborating on innovative projects involving Machine Learning (ML) and Large Language Models (LLMs).

Responsibilities
  • Architecture & Development: Lead the architecture and development of scalable, performant frontend systems using React (often with Next.js) and TypeScript.
  • Core Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality, responsive user interfaces and components using React, NextJS, TypeScript, and SSR.
  • UI/UX Implementation: Build elegant, intuitive, and responsive user interfaces and components, applying UI/UX best practices and proposing design improvements.
  • Design Systems: Build reusable component libraries and design systems to support consistency and velocity across multiple product surfaces.
  • Application Optimization: Optimize web applications for performance, accessibility, and cross-browser compatibility at scale.
  • AI Feature Integration: Integrate AI-driven product features and dynamic data flows into the frontend experience.
  • Cloud-Native Stack: Work within a modern cloud-native stack (e.g., Vercel, AWS/GCP, CI/CD pipelines) alongside backend and infra teammates.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, business stakeholders, backend engineers, and users to translate requirements and feedback into effective frontend solutions.
  • User Experience Ownership: Take ownership of the user experience, applying UI/UX best practices and implementing solutions even when detailed mockups are not provided.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Write robust unit tests for your code using frameworks like Vitest, and contribute to establishing and maintaining end-to-end testing practices (e.g., using Cypress or Playwright).
  • API Integration: Integrate frontend components with backend REST APIs and GraphQL.
  • Agile Practices: Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Architecture Contribution: Contribute to frontend architecture discussions, justifying design choices and helping implement scalable and maintainable solutions.
  • Version Control: Utilize Git for version control, following team branching and pull request workflows.
What we’re looking for
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven Experience: 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on frontend development.
  • Core Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in building complex web applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Web Fundamentals: Strong proficiency in modern JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • State Management: Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Zustand, Redux, MobX) and the ability to adapt to existing patterns.
  • Responsive Design: Solid understanding of responsive design principles and experience
